Sightseeing in Paro Bhutan takes you to Paro Rinpung Dzong, one of the famous monasteries in Bhutan. Then take an hour drive to Thimphu for an overnight stay at a luxury hotel. Thimphu sightseeing places list includes King’s Memorial Chorten, Buddha’s point, farmer’s centenary market, Tashichoe dzong, handicraft market, folk heritage museum. All of these landmarks give you a good picture of Bhutanese culture and traditions, and the daily lives of Bhutanese people. Then back to Paro for the second-night stay where on the second day is the ever-popular hike to Taktsang monastery ‘Tiger’s Nest’. No Bhutan tour is complete without a Taktsang monastery hike. It’s believed Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tigress in the 8th century and meditated here. Also, visit Kyichu Lhakhang after the hike which is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Day to Day Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival Paro (2250m) & transfer to Thimphu (2350m)
Arrive Paro flying over some of the world’s highest peaks and landing at Paro International Airport. As you step down from the plane, cool and clean fresh air greets you. After clearing the immigration and customs formalities, you will meet the representatives and your guide outside the airport then transfer to Paro town for lunch.
Visit Paro Ringpung Dzong closer to Paro town then drive to Thimphu (1 hr drive). Upon reaching Paro, go for Thimphu sightseeing visiting places like Buddha point for a stunning view of Thimphu city and Takin Compound including Tashi Choe Dzong: The fortress of the glorious religion was initially constructed in 1641 and rebuilt by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk in the 1960s. Visit the Folk Heritage Museum – a 300 year old traditional house converted into a museum. (Both open Mon-Fri). Brush shoulders with the everyday Bhutanese grocery shopping for local produce at the Centenary Farmers Market (Open Fri – Sun). Also see the new authentic craft bazaar (Close on Tue) of 80 stalls showcasing works by artisans from rural areas will showcase. Overnight at Luxury Hotel (Lunch/Dinner included)
Day 02: Thimphu – Paro, Hike to Taktsang Monastery ‘Tiger’s Nest’ (3120m)
After breakfast, trace the same route back to Paro and further drive to the base of Taktsang Monastery ‘Tiger’s Nest’. Hike begins here and after two hours’ hike, you will reach the cafeteria. One gets a good of the monastery from this point where it’s believed Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. Hike further up to reach the monastery, explore around then hike back to the road point. Afterward, drive back to Paro en-route visiting Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest shrines in Bhutan. Overnight at Luxury Hotel (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner included)
Day 03: Paro – Depart
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to catch the onward flight. Bid farewell to the remote and legendary Dragon Kingdom disappears again behind its guardian mountains. (Breakfast only included)
